A corrected title page announces A Long Way Back To A foreign Master, A Book By Jack Smith.

The handwritten A and Jack replace crossed-out wording. The title suggests a return to an unequal relationship, but this page gives no narrative to establish who the master is.

A typed title page, revised by hand, reads 'A Long Way Back To A foreign Master' and 'A Book By Jack Smith', with 'It's A', a handwritten 'The' and the typed surname 'Doolin' struck through.

The corrections show the author settling the title's opening and the name on the byline. The title suggests a return to a distant authority, framing the book as a journey home that is also a submission; the same closing phrase appears in a typed poem later in the notebook.
