"Jiven Joe said proudly to her, "U. is to go through
war on wine!"
"For you maybe," Maria replied half questioning.
She went on. "Mine is no war at all. Not your war
though, I am sorry," she said going to grace.
No mannerisms suddenly. Everything stopped. Just
for a moment.
For Animal everything was completely bright like
upper nature.
Maria turned away. She ran for a moment down the
short sidewalk. Then she turned to the nervious
assistants and police. Her eyes glinted (they could
not drag her away. "Be back in a moment," she said.
Going into the house was so pretty she said to her-
self. Lots of blue colors, and the windows have sun-
light from southwest. She went to a knook to the back
of her last L.A. home, and took a piece of thin satin
from a wrapping in the corner. She came out dressed,
and walking up the street Jiven Joe and Animal saw,
felt now, the strange reality of change coming upon
the Neighborhood. The were from New York City.
