path he was seen to put and hold for seconds the
fingers of his left hand to his cheek abiding to
the momentary softness. Stepping on he noticed
Davenport smiling, and Prankster felt an oblig-
ation to laugh... But instead of laughing with
him, Davenport's smile turned flatly into a
frown-joke-like-image about a suspicion, he; as
at least an obvious actor, now hoped for. But
for Prankster, to not get involved with anything
over his head was a good message, although he had
already fallen into most suggestions in the face
of that whisper.
As they walked, Davenport made his lips full.
They remained loose; but closed, until he said,
"there is an air of ooze," and he laughed, "but
the shapes are not dangerous, possibly though
Prankster; the thickness is..."
Suddenly the shotgun man stopped abruptly, as if
he now was having the same thought
Prankster had had to reconcile at the first down-
grade of the mountain. He indicated to the diver;
that he was going back. They both smiled, and the
shotgun man walked away retracing his steps.
The nearer the three remaining men came to the
circle of people, the more astranged Prankster
