A reminder to himself; a millionare bum does bounce but would bungle without his balloon. Animal stood up and said, "this is not a weight of the World show, so all T.V. watchers please tune illusion out." The man from Montreal smiled and said; "do you feel it Maria." Animal raised his hand and his mouth like that of a Carny man. "The weight of the world folks!" Jaugeline told Animal to let quiet ring with- out him with a hiss; she made. "Got to keep an alert about getting into the act of actual applause;" Animal said. "Some more weight Maria?" "Yes." "Don't forget Maria, when you begin to see the weight, you must also begin to show concern con- cerning your limitations. Of course you are not now at that measure, so feel free to challenge." "I do feel the weight," Marie replied assuring- ly. "Is it like an underground trap made of thin poles, or is like holding a one-pound rock at the top of a mountain?" "It feels like neither one. It is rather like a box of linen on my shoulders."

Animal heckles from the side like a carnival barker, but Marie's willingness to keep answering gives the exercise enough seriousness to survive his parody.

The page needs Animal's interruptions. They keep the scene from becoming unquestioned spiritual authority, while Marie's calm participation lets the ritual hold its shape despite the jokes and theatrical asides.
