Jaqueline laughed with her mouth full;
Outside. Now and then a voice, but mostly the
murmur was quiet now. The houses on Hart Street
were going to get there rest and begin to breath,
and the beach city pains were stretching the sand.
The door was knocked at lightly. Jiven Joe stood
up from where he had seated himself on the floor
beneath Animal and Jaqueline seated on the bed,
and went to the door opening it. In walked older
Marie and a young man dressed in black leather
clothes and shoes, with black hair combed in bangs,
and a white angular face, with dark knowledgeable
eyes.
Tonight the air smelled clear to Joe. He sniffed.
The studio images; the runaway; they were forgotten.
Marie went and sat. A cushion had let her clear a
way to the non-center of attraction. The man's lea-
ther coat looked like a well worked hand as he took
it off. It was cracked and weather beaten, but his
face was smooth. Underneath he had on a leather sh-
irt. It was black too, so it was definate to Joe,
that this man were a costume.
Animal was talking to Jaugeline about money, while
she sat munching cheese and sipping wine, with a
lefty and mischievious slant in her eyes, and stretch
