A man crouches against rocks and fires pistols while wearing rocks strapped across his chest and an iron forehead plate. The narrator then places him in a moonlit cabin; a separate marginal note describes badly torn flesh.

The narrator moves from the armed afternoon scene to clouds, moonlight and vapors in the cabin. The damaged-flesh annotation has no secure insertion point, and the narrator does not explain how the injury happened.

A typed scene: 'He put his back up against the rocks', 'There were pistols in his hands', with 'rocks with leather' across his chest and 'an iron plate' on his forehead. It moves to 'a cabin under the moon'.

The siege image recurs elsewhere in the notebook. A handwritten margin adds 'flesh was badly / torn.', and the top fragment 'He was being torn Apart,' frames the scene; part of the margin is too faint to read.
